In 1975,

Heliopolis was born,

and a  theater troupe was formed. For 25 consecutive years, we, the members, grew together as one united family, and one exceptional team…and what a team it was. We often argued, screamed and disagreed with each other, but we danced more than we argued, laughed more than we screamed, sang more than we cried, and we surely loved each other very much.

Our incredible Heliopolis family was bonded together like no other. We essentially grew up together, sharing life’s most precious moments. Weddings, children, anniversaries; we were always there.

We knew we had something special when we witnessed, right before our eyes, our children making the stage their home, just as it was ours. It was truly heart-warming watching them act, dance or sing as they also bonded, and formed life-long memories together.

We were each blessed with our own unique strengths in every aspect of theatre. Our formidable team was made up of innovative writers, fearless actors, gifted choreographers, inspired musicians, graceful dancers, great singers, excellent lighting technicians, and ingenious costume, set and prop designers. All of these incredibly talented people needed one person to lead the way. Last, but definitely not least, we had an extremely creative, daring, avant-gardist but mad director that everybody followed blindly. He was tough, rigid, and sometimes uncompromising , but his extraordinary sense of leadership and direction, resulted in productions that were almost always great. We tip our hats to you Samir.

Over the course of these wonderful 25 years, we made people laugh, and we made people cry; often both at the same time. Hundreds joined us in our journey and showed up year after year; all enjoying our presentations, and fully immersing themselves in the magic of the Heliopolis experience.

This site was created as a keepsake for the amazing memories of many great theatrical productions, for the memories of the friendships that can never fade, and for the memories of the beloved people who have left us and whom we will never forget. This one is for you. Enjoy.
